Mike Barnes brings 30 years of economic development consulting, site selection, and incentive negotiation on behalf of communities and companies across the United States. Mike is an expert at labor analysis and has a deep understanding of the tax implications of locating in one site versus another. Because he has worked on behalf of many communities, as the President of The Mike Barnes Group, he has a deep insight into the various types of incentives to ask for in each location.
Mike’s clients have included Ampacet-Terre, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas, Brinly Hardy, Caterpillar Financial Services, Dwyer Group, EDS, GalvPro, GEA LLC, Hatteras Yachts, High Point Furniture, Hyundai Furniture, L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, LHP Hospital Partners, Mannington Wood Floors, Marathon Norco, Marsh Cabinets, Metals USA, Roche Carolina and Triad Hospitals.
Mike is a member of the International Economic Development Council, Southern Economic Development Council, Texas Economic Development Council, and the Texas Municipal League. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University. In addition, he has completed economic development trainings and certifications from the University of Arizona and the University of Oklahoma. Mike is passionate about live music and resides in the Texas Hill Country with his wife, Andrèe. They have an adult son.
